Hi there, I’m Kaylene. I’m a Lead UX|UI Designer with several years of experience. User Experience is about much more than technical tools and research — it's about championing the wants and needs of the person who's engaging with our product and this is my passion as a UX professional. Every day I strive to be a champion for the wants, needs, and expectations of the user. I leverage my skill set to create digital products that are intuitive and easy to use. I specialize in enhancing experiences through roadmapping, research, testing, analytics, and streamlined design. And most importantly, I generate results by placing the user in the center of every decision I make.

Lead UX Designer

The Home Depot – Top of Funnel Browse Experiences

• Working with cross channel partners such as research, product and content strategy teams to create enriched experiences and enhanced features across the top of funnel portion of The Home Depot consumer B2C site, Pro B2B site and App.

• Established a communication plan to showcase UX progress and documentation of that progress made in a very large multi-faceted project in order to create an understanding and alignment of design.

• Hybrid Lead UXD with the OUX Design Operations and Brand Enablement team in 2022 to strengthen the relationship in the adoption of Stencil design system for the PIP and browse experiences.

• Taking on Principle duties and mentoring designers in product design strategy and the adoption of the design system.

• Lead UX Designer for the PIP redesign and optimization initiative for the past two years. Led numerous workshops and work sessions with several cross functional teams to gain alignment, understand business needs and resolve customer pain points.

• Presented complex design concepts to key stakeholders, balanced working team, Interconnected Experience management and the broader group of business partners including Home Depot Canada and Mexico.

• Onboarded and successfully coached three contractors over the course of the past two years. Guided junior designers in strategy, alignment, analysis, design and execution tasks with good results.

• Lead designer for the design and migration efforts to ‘lift and shift’ experiences to a more streamlined code base. Eliciting ideas and providing guidance to junior UX designers on their assigned deliverables. Ensuring design handoff and requirements are communicated and understood by Engineering and Product teams.

• Redesigned and optimized the automotive experience mitigating $40M+ loss in eCommerce sales.

The Home Depot – Home Decor Division

• Lead UX Designer for the home decor browse site experience for the business-to-consumer web site.

• Lead UX Designer for a full end-to-end experience of the evolution of the online Digital Catalog. Led the effort for digital catalog vendor evaluation, strategy, competitor analysis, MVP and blue sky concept design, multiple presentations and delivery to influence the 2021 product roadmap.

  • Lead UX & UI Designer for multi-brand eCommerce replatform project replacing 12-year-old platform.

  • Lead UX Designer for Buy Online Pickup In Store and Curbside Pickup cross-brand strategic initiative.

  • Lead UX Designer for third-party outfitting integration that drove $2.3M in sales for WHBM and Chico’s brands in a 4-month pilot.

  • Project lead for navigation studies including strategy planning and analysis for open and closed card sorting, first-click testing, tree testing and surveying.

  • Spearhead the UX design for both internal associate and customer-facing digital products.

  • Define use cases, user flows, scoping docs and site platform capabilities to support the company’s omni-channel initiatives.

  • Produce research studies, site content audits, high-fidelity mockups & test plans.

  • Lead UX & UI Designer for WHBM & Soma’s responsive sites. Performed Visual QA for responsive site redesign.

  • Took on enterprise level projects building out the framework and visual design for the charity micro-sites for Habitat for Humanity, Living Beyond Breast Cancer and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

  • OMNI Designer in the Kids Department — designed for web, store and print channels.

  • Dedicated designer for Lands’ End’s first-ever app. Assisted the Creative Director on set for Kids photography shoots and casting calls.

  • Built content and design for LE School Uniform catalog and digital channel.
